Drying and concentration for the chemical and mining industries

Salts, lithium carbonate, sulphates, pigments, ceramics, catalysts and mineral concentrates. We work out which dryer fits your product and build it, or upgrade the one you already run.

Built in our own workshop: every machine is made for the product, the capacity and the conditions of the plant.

Products we process

The product rules: inlet moisture, particle size, abrasiveness and the temperature it tolerates decide the technology.

Lithium carbonate and hydroxide

Filter cake with surface moisture that has to dry without losing specification, in a continuous line and with tight temperature control.

Salts and sulphates

Chlorides, sulphates and carbonates coming off crystallisation or centrifuges, needing robust, high-capacity drying.

Pigments and dyes

Products that demand constant colour and particle size: control of air and residence time is what holds quality.

Ceramics and slurries

Atomising the slurry to get spherical granules of even moisture and good flow for pressing.

Catalysts and additives

High-value batches, where yield and repeatability matter more than the price of the machine.

Mineral concentrates and clays

Kaolin, bentonite, calcium carbonate and flotation concentrates, with abrasive material and fines handling.

Which dryer fits

This is the first decision of the project and the one that moves the most money: the wrong machine is paid for every day in energy and lost output.

MachineWhen it fitsTypically
Flash dryerFilter cakes and wet solids that break up well. Drying in seconds, small footprint.Lithium carbonate, sulphates, pigments, starches, kaolin.
Rotary dryerCoarse or abrasive products, or ones needing long residence time. Scales to high capacity.Salts, granular minerals, fertilisers, sands.
Spray dryerYou start from a solution, suspension or slurry and want a powder of controlled particle size.Ceramics, pigments, catalysts, detergents, additives.
Falling film evaporatorA lot of water has to come out of a solution before drying, or the condensate is worth recovering as process water.Brines, liquors, dilute solutions, effluents.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a flash dryer and a rotary dryer?

A flash dryer dries in seconds, carrying the product in a stream of hot air: it suits filter cakes and wet solids that break up well, and it takes little floor space. A rotary dryer works with long residence times inside a turning drum: it handles coarse or abrasive products, or ones that simply need time, and it scales to very high capacities. Inlet moisture, particle size and abrasiveness decide which one fits.

When does a spray dryer make sense in the chemical industry?

When you start from a solution, a suspension or a slurry and you want a powder of controlled particle size, spherical and free flowing: ceramics, pigments, catalysts, detergents and additives.

Can abrasive or corrosive products be dried?

Yes. Materials of construction and wall thicknesses are selected for the product, and wear zones are reinforced. It is a decision taken at the start of the project, together with the working temperature.

Is it worth evaporating a brine or a solution before drying?

Yes, whenever a lot of water has to come out. The evaporator removes water at a fraction of the dryer’s energy cost and, on top of that, lets you recover the condensate as process water, which is decisive where water is scarce.
